The idea

Seven chairs, seven independent stylists

Studio 55 is not a chain salon and does not run like one. Each stylist, manicurist and esthetician here keeps their own book, sets their own menu and answers their own phone — so the person you talk to when you make the appointment is the person who does the work.

The room itself is small on purpose: warm plaster and brick, low light, and enough space for the people actually being seen. We have stayed appointment-only since well before it was fashionable, which keeps the number of guests at any one time low and the pace unhurried.

The cleaning routine we adopted in 2020 has stayed too. Stations, tools and shared surfaces are cleaned between every guest.
